A solo exhibition
"Apropos Readymade"
The Vitrina Gallery - H.I.T Holon
2007
Immediately after the end of the solo exhibition "Layer of Dust" in Ramat Gan Museum, the exhibition "Apropos Readymade" was created. The question underlying this exhibition, which deals with the issues of the authentic object, was raised by the members of the H.I.T Academy Holon. The exhibition was curated by Roni Setter and Arie Berkovitz from the Faculty of Design. Berkowitz writes:
"David Peer's works are on the seam line between art and design, and he seems to be dealing with radymade, who draws his strength from Marcel Duchamp and Dada, but uses genre and images, cover pits," protease" works and recently authentic objects wrapped in plaster bandages, and nostalgia bordering on finds archeological sites. David Peer surrounds old consumer products, most of which have been used by plaster bandages that simulator shrouds, thereby giving them a universal sculptural imortality. They are recognizable but at the same time they are undecipherable and allow a variety of interpretations. The formal design of the product assumes conceptual importance by virtue of its presence and cleanliness. David Peer continues to "take care" of the objects that were recently exhibited at the Israeli Art Museum in Ramat Gan, in an attempt to neutralize the "layer of dust" (the subject of the exhibition) to preserve and even freeze the signs of time and natural obsolescence."
